Cross-Stitch Christmas Cracker

Decorate purchased ornaments with cross-stitched designs. We found this glass cracker ornament at Wal-Mart. It is an easy way to refashion something that is inexpensive — look how elegant it can become!

Materials needed:

Purchased ornament on which to adhere your needlework (look at dollar stores and discount stores)
3" x 3" piece of red perforated paper (Wichelt Imports)
Kreinik Fine #8 Braid in 5982 Forest Green, 015L Laser Lime, 5555 Oyster
3" x 3" piece of gold Kreinik kid leather
4" x 6" piece of Kreinik Treasure Tape
#24 Tapestry needle

Instructions:

Download the PDF with the chart/color key by clicking the link below.
Cross stitch the design centered on the perforated paper following the instructions.
When stitching is complete, trim design to within 1/4" of stitchery.
Trim kid leather to be just slightly larger than the stitched piece.
Using the double-sided Treasure Tape, adhere the stitchery to the kid leather, then the kid leather to the ornament.

High demand for product combined with supply, production, and staffing ramifications of the pandemic means that it is taking longer than normal to get your Kreinik orders. IN MOST CASES, IT IS TAKING UP TO 10 WEEKS TO FILL ORDERS We make our threads, and also rely on outside sources for things like packaging and raw materials. Every step of the manufacturing process has been affected by the pandemic, even shipping has seen incredible delays. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to improve the situation.

To speed up production of the most in-demand colors, we are only making the top 60 to 80 colors in Kreinik #4, #8, and #12 Braid lines. The colors in production can be found on those individual thread pages on our website. This is a temporary situation; we will go back to producing 200+ colors per Braid size when we are able.

We cannot do rush orders at this time.

Kreinik does not sell direct to the public, so all orders received on this website will have payment collected and fulfillment by independent retailers.
