Stitching Instructions: 

   Each square on the chart represents TWO fabric threads. Having fabric mounted onto a 6" hoop or Q-snap, center and stitch design as instructed on color key. Work all bands of stitching. Couch Torsade last. 

 

Finishing Instructions: 

   In addition to the stitched design and the Stik 'N Puffs (with instructions), you will need one 6" square of backing fabric, 1/2 yard of purchased trim and one 3" matching tassel. You will also need thick white glue, straight pins and scissors. 

 

   Finish according to manufacturer's instructions provided with Stik ' N Puffs. However, cut fabric slightly larger than provided pattern. Do not cut Torsade. Allow ends of Torsade to extend slightly beyond pattern points; to be tucked to inside of ornament. Hanger is an 8" length of Kreinik 1/16" ribbon 002 Gold; loop extending 2 1/4" above top of ornament. 

Note: Kreinik red/gold torsade has been discontinued. You can make a similar cording, however, out of red and gold threads and the Kreinik Custom Corder.

This project features one of Kreinik's Metallic Gift Collections, boxed sets of threads in themes. Look for the GINGERBREAD collection at your local needlework store for this sweet project. It's small enough to make an ornament, or finish as a doorknob hanger.

Kreinik Silk Bella is a relatively new thread designed for stitching on high counts of linen or on fine silk gauze. It's thin size makes for excellent diminutive stitchery, with fine lines and deep color. This design is stitched over two threads on 36-ct Periwinkle Linen from a company called Lakeside Linens. Contact your local needlework store for this fabric.

This ornament design was created by British needlework designer Jill Cater Nixon using Kreinik's antique-finish Vintage Threads in braid and Blending Filament (for different light and texture effects). This is a charming little snowman who has made a friend. You'll love how the metallic threads make the snow look so real, and the subtle Japan thread creates a border that looks like icicles. This design will lift your winter spirits (and it would look terrific finished as a pillow).
