How one stitch can make different flowers
The Lazy Daisy stitch is a 3-dimensional petal maker. You can stitch many petals for a zinnia-type flower, just a few for a daisy flower, or just three for a tulip-like flower. You can create this stitch with many types of threads, even filling it with a totally different kind of thread for an even more dimensional look. Metallic ribbons and braids give a dewy look, while silk threads create that velvety softness that real petals offer.
Kreinik 1/8" Ribbon, Very Fine #4 Braid, and Silk Mori were used in the samples shown here.
Here's how it works:
To make this stitch, bring your thread up at 1 and down at 2, leaving a loop on the surface. Come up at 3 and down at 4 to anchor the loop.
