Holographic Holiday Ornament

One of the 12 Projects of Christmas using the holographic thread set "Make Mine 3-D"

Materials needed:

Kreinik threads from the Make Mine 3D holographic thread set (see color key below)
14-count Aida in metallic opal/minty green (Zweigart #3706/6219/43) or similar fabric
#22 and 24 tapestry needles
Kreinik Custom Corder™ for making trim
felt piece for backing
4” x 6” piece of Treasure Tape
2 1/2” piece of cardboard and small piece of quilt batting, or Press-On foam ornament shape
clear monofilament thread (optional)

Instructions:

Backstitch this design on your fabric following the main graph and color key.
Add a straight stitch with 1/8” ribbon 002L Chromo Gold for the ornament hangers (see photograph for suggested placement). Add a bow with the 1/8” Ribbon 002L.
When stitching is complete, trim design to within 1” of stitched area. Trim your 2 1/2” piece of cardboard or Press-on foam ornament shape to a desired triangle shape (ours came out to be about 2 1/4” x 2 1/4”. Lay stitched design centered on the ornament shape (add the quilt batting if desired to puff it up a bit). Lay a piece of Treasure Tape on the back of the ornament (or use glue) and fold fabric to the back to secure. Cover back with piece of felt trimmed to size.
Create your cording by using threads in the Make Mine 3-D set and the Kreinik Custom Corder (follow instructions that come with the corder). Attach cording using a thin Blending Filament color or clear monofilament thread. (Cording video also available in the EDUCATION section on www.kreinik.com.)

High demand for product combined with supply, production, and staffing ramifications of the pandemic means that it is taking longer than normal to get your Kreinik orders. IN MOST CASES, IT IS TAKING UP TO 10 WEEKS TO FILL ORDERS We make our threads, and also rely on outside sources for things like packaging and raw materials. Every step of the manufacturing process has been affected by the pandemic, even shipping has seen incredible delays. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to improve the situation.

To speed up production of the most in-demand colors, we are only making the top 60 to 80 colors in Kreinik #4, #8, and #12 Braid lines. The colors in production can be found on those individual thread pages on our website. This is a temporary situation; we will go back to producing 200+ colors per Braid size when we are able.

We cannot do rush orders at this time.
