If you work with dollhouses or make clothes for dolls, Kreinik's iron-on (fusible) threads are an easy way to add a diminutive embroidered look. The fusible threads are fast and can be attached to any surface. Kreinik Fine #8 Braid is the thinner iron-on fiber, while Kreinik Medium #16 Braid is exactly twice as thick as the #8 Braid. Both are suitable for miniature projects.

Materials needed:

  • doll-sized baseball cap
  • Kreinik iron-on Braid in your choice of colors — find a color chart here: http://www.kreinik.com/ articles/images/Iron_on.pdf
  • mini craft iron or household iron
  • Kreinik teflon press cloth (we recommend the adhesive press cloth, which can be attached to the foot of a mini craft iron)

Instructions:

  1. Turn your iron on to the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.
  2. Sketch out on a piece of paper or print your lettering from your computer to use as a placement guide.
  3. At your starting point on the baseball cap, lay the end of your iron-on Braid. Cover with a Teflon press cloth (or use a teflon-coated iron) and press for several seconds until the thread adheres. Continue working your design this way, placing and pressing your thread as you go.

High demand for product combined with supply, production, and staffing ramifications of the pandemic means that it is taking longer than normal to get your Kreinik orders. IN MOST CASES, IT IS TAKING UP TO 10 WEEKS TO FILL ORDERS We make our threads, and also rely on outside sources for things like packaging and raw materials. Every step of the manufacturing process has been affected by the pandemic, even shipping has seen incredible delays. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to improve the situation.  

To speed up production of the most in-demand colors, we are only making the top 60 to 80 colors in Kreinik #4, #8, and #12 Braid lines. The colors in production can be found on those individual thread pages on our website. This is a temporary situation; we will go back to producing 200+ colors per Braid size when we are able. 

We cannot do rush orders at this time.
