Rubber-Stamped Wooden Heart Tag

Here's a unique tag for a Valentine's Day orwedding gift: use a rubber stamp design, decorative papers, and shiny metallicthreads to embellish a purchased wooden heart. Forget about messy glitter to getthe shine-just use iron-on thread! Make it even more personal by writing thecouple's on the back (they can use it as a Christmas ornament too!) either witha permanent marker or by tracing letters with iron-on thread.

Materials needed:

• wooden heart cut out, purchased from a craft store
• white & blue craft paint
• white & blue cardstock
• printed blue paper (We used Provo Craft Soft Watercolor 12x12 background paper in Stonewashed Denim 42-5220, and Polka Dot # 42-5258 by Kathy Distefano Griffiths)
• Kreinik Iron On #16 Braid 6450 Royal Blue
• Kreinik Iron-on #8 Braid 6400 Blue Bell
• Blue stamp pad
• Candle rubber stamp (Stampin? Up)
• Mini iron or home iron
• Kreinik Teflon press cloth
• Double-sided red liner Treasure Tape 8" x 10" sheets
• scissors

Instructions:

1. Turn your iron onto the highest heat settingand let it heat thoroughly.

2. Paint the front of your wooden shape white,and paint the back blue. Let dry.

3. Stamp the candle image onto white cardstock.Cut out.

4. Use the iron-on threads to outline the rubberstamped image of the candle. Lay the thread at a starting place, cover with theTeflon Press Cloth, and press with a hot iron for several seconds until thethread adheres.

5. Using your wooden shape as a guide, cut out asimilar heart shape from the blue paper, only about 1/4" smaller than thewooden shape. Apply Treasure Tape to the back, and adhere the blue heart to thewhite side of the wooden heart.

6. Cut another heart shape out of the polka dotpaper, slightly smaller than the blue heart, and attach to the blue heart usingthe double-sided tape.

7. Then adhere the cut-out embellished candle tothe front of your card using scraps of tape.
