Mom's A Survivor Card

Personalize a purchases mothers day card.
Skill Level: Beginner

Sometimes you find cards in stores that are so meaningful - maybe it's the saying, maybe it's the image on the card. You can't resist buying them (even though the price of cards keeps going up!). It's simply easyto personalize such a card by adding an embellishment with iron-on thread.

Take a look at the before-and-after images of the purchased card in our sample. The simple technique of adding a metallic thread embellishment can be an elegant touch that makes the card even more special to you and the recipient.

Materials needed:

  • Purchased card
  • Kreinik Iron-on #16 Braid in 6225 gold (or your choice of color)
  • Kreinik Teflon press cloth
  • Household iron or mini iron

Instructions:
1. Turn your iron onto the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.

2. Use shapes, images or outlines already printed on the card as your design. In our sample, we outlined the leaves and branches. Start by placing the thread at a beginning point of your design, cover with the teflon press cloth, and press with your hot iron for several seconds until the thread adheres. Continue this way, working in sections, until
your design is complete.

TIP: for a handy ironing surface, use a mouse pad from your computer.
