Personalize your property in style!

Iron-on threads are a fast, fun way to embellish blank books. Whether you’re going back to school, giving a gift, or buying a new address book, look for notebook covers you can embellish with your own style.

Materials needed:

Kreinik 1/8" Iron-on Ribbon 6010 Pearl
Kreinik #16 Iron-on Braid in 6130 Red
Black cardstock
red metallic paper
small hole punch (round holes)
mini iron or household iron
Kreinik Teflon Press Cloth
blank book or notebook with plain cover
glue stick or Treasure Tape dots

Instructions:

Turn your iron onto the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.
Meanwhile, cut your black cardstock to be the shape of a ladybug’s body (1 ¾” long x 1” wide at the largest body part). Use our photo as a guide.
Cut your red metallic or foil paper to resemble wings. Punch three holes on each wing.
Using the Pearl 1/8" Ribbon, iron on flower petals as shown in our photograph. Lay the thread at a starting point, cover with the Teflon press cloth, and press for several seconds until the thread adheres.
Continue this way, working the design in sections. Make loops as petals, five petals per flower. Make flowers of different sizes.
Using the red #16 Braid, iron curly q’s in the center of each flower. Make a center dot by ironing the thread in a tight, tight circle. In the flower, iron a red trail off to the side.
At this side thread end, glue your black ladybug body using a glue stick or Treasure Tape dots. Glue the wings on top. Use the red braid to iron on antennae.
If desired, make circle decorations elsewhere on your cover by ironing the red braid in tight circles.
