Felt Mittens

Felt Heart Mittens

This project has lots of options, suchas making them as ornaments for your Christmas tree or as winter decorations fora doorknob or cabinet knob. Or, plan a snowflake/winter theme for your holidaywrapping paper next year and make a basketful of mittens to use as gift boxdecorations. Your gift recipients will love the tokens as handmade ornamentsfrom you.

Materials needed: 

• Kreinik Cable 001P Silver

• CPE felt: 3" x 6" white 3" x 6" red, 6" x 12" royal blue (CPE felt numbers 0650, 0543, 0395, respectively)

• 9" x 12" Pellon® Fusible Fleece

• 9" x12" Pellon® Wonder-Under® transfer web

• 5" x 5" Pellon® Sof-Shape® fusible interfacing

• Beacon™ FABRI-TAC permanent adhesive

• Pressing cloth

Instructions:

Note: Cover felt with pressingcloth before fusing. 

1.)  download the patternsfor the heart, mitten shape and cuff by clicking on the PDF file below.

2.)  Cut royal blue feltinto two 6" x 6" pieces. Following manufacturer's instructions, applytransfer web to one piece of blue felt. Remove paper backing. Apply fusiblefleece to the other piece of blue felt. Position blue felt pieces wrong sidestogether. Fuse felt. Pin mitten pattern to fused felt. Cut out mittens. 

3.)  Cut white felt intotwo 3" x 3" pieces. Following manufacturer's instructions, applyfusible interfacing to one piece of white felt. Apply transfer web to the otherpiece of white felt. Remove paper backing. Position white felt pieces wrongsides together. Fuse felt. Pin cuff pattern to fused felt. Cut out cuffs.

4.)  Followingmanufacturer's instructions, apply transfer web to red felt. Trace heart patternon paper side of felt. Cut out hearts. Position a heart on each mitten. Fuse inplace.

5.)  Using Silver KreinikCable 001P, blanket stitch around rounded edges of mitten and heart. 

6.)  Glue a cuff to top ofeach mitten. 

7.) Cut silver Cable into two7-inch lengths. Glue ends of cable to top of cuffs.
