Embellished Fabric Book Cover

This is a great way to use scraps of fabric to make a gift item. Choose holiday themed fabric to make an embellished notebook for keeping Christmas lists, or choose fabric to match the personality of your gift recipient. The technique can be used to embellish any book, notebook, calendar, etc.

Materials needed:

blank book, notebook, pocket calendar
Fabric of your choice
Kreinik Iron-on Threads to coordinate with your fabric. We used 1/8" Ribbon 6225 Red, #16 Braid 6225 Burnished Gold
4" x 6" Treasure Tape Sheets
Tools: scissors, iron, Kreinik press cloth*

Instructions:
Turn your iron on to the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.

Cut one Treasure Tape sheet to the size of your cover. Cut your fabric to the same size.
Peel the white liner off the tape and place your fabric on the tape, smoothing with your fingers to adhere. Trim any edges or stray threads. Peel off the red liner and center your tape on the calendar cover.
Use the Iron-on Ribbon to create edging for your design: lay the thread at a starting point, cover with the Kreinik press cloth, then press with your iron for several seconds until the thread adheres. Then embellish your design with the Braid, adding curls and loops or zig-zags and stripes.

* Kreinik also sells an adhesive press cloth that can be applied directly to your iron, so that you don't have to move a press cloth around as you create. The press cloth keeps the heat-activated adhesive in the thread from gumming up your iron plate. Look for the Kreinik Adhesive Press Cloth available in several sizes.

High demand for product combined with supply, production, and staffing ramifications of the pandemic means that it is taking longer than normal to get your Kreinik orders. IN MOST CASES, IT IS TAKING UP TO 10 WEEKS TO FILL ORDERS We make our threads, and also rely on outside sources for things like packaging and raw materials. Every step of the manufacturing process has been affected by the pandemic, even shipping has seen incredible delays. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to improve the situation.

To speed up production of the most in-demand colors, we are only making the top 60 to 80 colors in Kreinik #4, #8, and #12 Braid lines. The colors in production can be found on those individual thread pages on our website. This is a temporary situation; we will go back to producing 200+ colors per Braid size when we are able.

We cannot do rush orders at this time.
