Bookworm Card

Need a book club invitation, or a greeting card for a book-lover? Here's a fun design that uses scraps of paper and iron-on thread.

Materials:

• Heart cutout card (or make your own with a die cut machine)
• Cardstock: Red, Cream, Green
• Red print papers: Sizzix Little Sizzles Classics
• Hole punch
• Fiskars Paper Edgers Scallop Wide
• Kreinik Iron-On #16 Braid: 6350 Green, 6301 Hosta
• Mini-Iron and Teflon presscloth or regular Teflon-coated Iron
• Definition: Dictionary.com
• Font: Courier

Instructions:

1. Cut your red cardstock to the size of your card. Center your cardstock behind the heart cutout, and lightly trace the heart shape onto the cardstock. This will give you a reference for the edge of the window.

2. Print and cut out your definition. Cut in an arc around the right side of the text. Use your hole punch to add "bite" marks around the edges. Position on your cardstock and attach.

3. Cut strips of printed paper and attach in stripes above and below your text.

4. Cut your "worm" shape from the green cardstock using the scallop edgers. Cut straight across the edge of your cardstock, then cut straight across again, 3/4" above your first cut, so that the scallops match. Trim your " bookworm" to fit across your heart shape and attach.

5. Using your Iron-On Braid in 6350 Green, outline the stripes of printed paper and the "belly" of your bookworm. Use the 6301 Hosta to make two stripes along the top of the bookworm.

6. Attach your cardstock to the inside panel of the card, so that your design shows properly through the heart window.
