Beaded Flower Pillow

Teens will love combining their new sewing skills with crafty fun in this bright project.

Materials needed:

• any purchased pillowcase (large or small), or a handmade pillowcase at least 16" by 14"
• decorative trims, enough to go along the shorter edges of the pillow case
• two 8" x 10" sheets of Treasure Tape
• any design that you can transfer onto a piece of 8" x 10" fabric
• Diamond Beadlets
• Kreinik metallic threads as desired to match your design
• cabochons or beads as desired to match your design
• shallow pan or tray

Instructions:

1. First, transfer your design (can be hand-drawn, kids' artwork, or a purchased print) onto your 8" x 10" piece of fabric.

2. Then cover the front of this fabric with one sheet of Treasure Tape (remove the white backer, and lay the sticky tape onto your fabric, going carefully, smoothing out any bubbles as you go along.

3. Remove the red liner and begin decorating your design. Lay the largest objects first, like thicker Kreinik fibers, any large cabochons, etc. Then fill in with smaller Kreinik fibers, bugle beads, etc.

4. When decorating is complete, lay the design in a shallow pan or tray and cover remaining sticky areas with Diamond Beadlets.

5. Then attach your other piece of Treasure Tape to the back of your decorated piece. Remove the backer, and attach it to the center of your pillowcase.

6. With a sewing machine or by hand, attach decorative trims along narrow edges of pillow case (the open end, and the opposite end).  Stuff your pillow, then sew the opening shut.

Use your pillow as a room decoration for teens or adults, and enjoy!  (Because of the beads, we don't recommend this design for babies or toddlers.)
