Autumn Acorn Blank Greeting Card
Designed by Amy Law
Skill level: all
Handmade greeting cards are less expensive than store-bought cards — and more meaningful. With materials like iron-on threads, you can make them in short time, even recycling scraps of papers and fabrics for other embellishments. Send a card that truly has a piece of your heart, showing the recipient how important they are to you.
Materials we used in the model:
-
Cardstock in green
-
Fibermark Canvas series- Verbena paper

-

-
Kreinik Metallic Iron-on Thread in #16 Braid 6275 Old Penny
-
Tools: scissors, iron, Press cloth
Instructions:
-
First turn on your iron to its highest setting and allow it to heat up.
-
Cut one 4"x6" piece of green cardstock for your base.
-
Cut your Verbena paper slightly smaller than your base.
-
Cut one 3"x3" square of Chocolate mulberry paper and one 2.5" square of Brown Textured cardstock.
-
Punch a stamp shape out of the center of the textured cardstock.
-
Cut a 2" square of polka dot paper and stamp your acorn in the center of it.
-
Begin assembling your card. Center your Verbena paper on the base. Using your iron, creat a braid outline around the edge (use the Press Cloth between your iron and the fusible thread to keep the adhesive in the thread from sticking to your iron). Center your Chocolate paper at the top of the card.
-
Next use your iron to outline the acorn stamped on your polka dot paper. (Leave the outline or fill in the cap if you want.) Mount the polka dot paper behind your Brown Textured frame, and center them at the top of your card.
-
Use the braid to outline the frame and add hanging loops and swirls at the bottom of your card.
