No-sew Quilt Christmas Tree Card

Designed by: Amy Law
Skill Level: Beginner

Here's a great idea for using blank greeting cards with shapes punched out of the front (or for using scrapbook punches with blank cardstock). Simply use glue and iron-on threads to replicate the look of a quilt.

Materials needed:

  • Plain white card
  • Red, white, or green paper
  • Green print fabrics
  • Kreinik Iron-On 1/8" Ribbon in 6225 Gold
  • Kreinik Medium #16 Iron-on Braid in 6225 Gold and 6130 Red
  • Teflon Press Cloth
  • Iron or mini iron

1. Turn your iron on at it's highest setting and allow it to heat up. Cut a triangle shape out of the front of your card. Cut your regular paper to the same size as your card- this will line the inside of your card. Cut four 1.5-2" wide strips of green fabric, long enough to cover your triangle opening.

2. Fold your "liner" paper like the card and use a glue stick to attach your fabric strips to the front so that they will cover the area of your triangle opening. The edges of the strips should meet.

3. Embellish your strips with stripes, loops, and circles to look like tree trimmings and ornaments. The circles are made by ironing your thread in a circle and then filling in the center in a spiral.

4. When you finish embellishing, center your liner inside your card and glue them together. Send to someone you love!
