Fabulous Finds for Finishing

Use dollar-store craft items as a backdrop to your cross-stitch or needlepoint projects. We found a blank chipboard plaque that worked perfect for the country style of this cross-stitched scarecrow. Add fabric layers and buttons for extra color and texture.

Materials needed:
  • finished cross stitch (we used the Roly Poly Scarecrow from the Freebies section on www.kreinik.com)
  • scraps of fabric
  • miscellaneous buttons
  • blank chipboard or wooden plaque from dollar store
  • Kreinik Treasure Tape 1/4" tape roll
Instructions:
For our model, we used Treasure Tape to layer pieces of color-coordinating fabric on the plaque. Use the archive-quality tape to attach your needlework on the fabric, then use the tape to attach buttons.

Note: We also threaded scraps of Kreinik thread through the buttons before taping them to the design.
