Wear this design as a pin, or make several and sew onto a purchased crocheted bag for a fun spring accessory. Materials needed: - Kreinik Tapestry (#12) Braid 091 Star Yellow
- Kreinik Tapestry (#12) Braid 005 Black
- Kreinik Tapestry (#12) Braid 032 Pearl (optional for wings)
- seven inches of 22-gauge craft wire
- sew-on pinback
- two black beads (for eyes)
- tiny amount of stuffing (a cotton ball would work)
- beading thread and needle
- crochet hook 2 mm
- Tapestry needle
- wire cutters
Instructions: Body - Using yellow, Ch 3, 5 hdc in third ch fr hook, join w sl st.
- Rnd 1: Ch 2, hdc in same sp, hdc in each hdc, join w sl st pulling up black thread.
- Rnd 2: Repeat rnd 1, pulling up yellow thread when joining.
- Rnd 3: Repeat rnd 2, pulling up black thread when joining.
- Rnd 4 & 5: Repeat rnds 2 &3, but do not pull up black thread.
- Rnd 6 & 7: Ch 2, hdc around, decreasing 1 st per rnd (do not cut thread). Set aside.
Wings Shape wire into 2 wings one-inch long, and body one-inch, twist wire around intersection of wings and place body wire inside crocheted tube. Stuff lightly. With yellow or pearl, sc around wing wires, sc in body as you cross from one wing to the other. Cut thread, leaving a tail of 24 inches. Using tapestry needle, work detached buttonhole stitch through sc to fill in wings. Fasten off. Sew on beads and pinback with reserve black thread. Work in thread ends. - ch = chain
