CROSS STITCH

“Bone Appetit” is a clever Halloween project from The Cross-Eyed Cricket. It uses #4 Braid 015HL and 015. Designer Vicki Hastings also has a new series called Photo Finish, which features cross-stitched “scrapbook pages” for featuring photos. Brooke's Books Publishing has two new chartpacks featuring fun Halloween designs: Spooky Critters I and II use Kreinik metallic threads, floss and beads on perforated paper. Love old-fashioned-styled needlework? Keslyn's features several new designs that have an old-world feel plus some geometrics perfect for Christmas. Calico Crossroads has two new designs: Great Purrformance is one of their newest Kats by Kelly™ designs featuring the mischievous black cat. It uses Kreinik Very Fine #4 Braid in 003HL, 051HL, and 202HL.  "Spiral Blooms Pinwheels," which uses #4 Braid in 5535 and 5540 (some of the new Gourmet Colors), creates 3-dimensional pinwheels on perforated paper. Stoney Creek Collection's "Towels to Celebrate" offers 10 design ideas for embellishing tea towels for every season. Fall Harvest towel uses #4 Braid 5982 Forest Green. "Quilted Snow Day" features cute snowmen designs, and uses Kreinik Japan #5 in 002J Gold. (The leaflets also call for Glissen Gloss thread™ a conversion from Glissen Gloss to Kreinik can be found in the Education section on www.kreinik.com.) NEEDLEPOINT

Check out an "advent calendar" for Halloween! Janet Perry has created a stitch guide for Melissa Shirley's Halloween Advent Calendar canvas. It uses gobs of #24 Braid in 005.

Love Christmas and cats? Look for the needlepoint canvas design Cat In A Wrap by Ruth Schmuff. A stitch guide is available for the 18-count painted canvas, which uses Kreinik #12 Braid 005HL, 006, 018HL, 032, 033, plus 5 spools of #8 Braid 014HL and 2 spools of #8 Braid 1432. At the recent needlework trade show, we met Ada Haydon and Susan Allanson who have teamed to create really cheerful, fun, bright, cool needlepoint canvases with stitch guides. Ada's design company is called Eye Candy Needleart, distributed by Ruth Schmuff Designs. Check out "Cool Stripes, Dots & Checks" in purples, lime greens, black and white. It uses Kreinik Fine #8 Braid 100, 684, 2829, 3214, 3215, 4639, 5012.
