Shop Profile

Eleven years ago, on an exciting day in June, Colleen Church began living her dream when she purchased The Needle Works shop in Austin, Texas. The quaint shop holds a special place in the hearts of Texans because it is the oldest established store for fine, hand-painted needlepoint canvas in Texas, as well as for the largest selection of threads in the Texas Hill Country.

Colleen first fell in love with stitching in 1984. Since then, she's been hooked and has a deep desire to share this love for threads, needles, charts, and virtually everything needlework with those who enter her store.

She loves color and enjoys versatility within her stitches. This is why she fell in love with Kreinik's silks.

"I love silks, and I think the serica and the mori are just wonderful. Because they come in the same colors, using them together in a composite stitch works like a charm," she said, adding, "The Kreinik #8 is probably my favorite size Kreinik because of its versatility with stitches," she explained.

Her shop holds regular classes for those who want to learn, chat, and make friends. You can get in touch with them by emailing the shop colleen@theneedleworks.com, calling 800-851-6931, or visiting: www.theneedleworks.com.
