Off to a Good Start!

I just returned from a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and I came back with a new attitude! Before I left, I felt stressed and overwhelmed about life in general.

My list of things I had to accomplish was growing faster than I could handle, which forced me to put aside those things I really wanted to accomplish. I’m not sure at which point things started to get out of hand for me, but I do know one thing, I am not alone.

On my trip, I indulged in watching more television than is typically normal. All week I was addicted to ‘Clean House’, a show about people who let clutter build up around them and as a result end up stressed and overwhelmed (not too different than how I was feeling). Now, my house isn’t to the cluttered extreme of those featured on the show, but I connected with them on an emotional level.

So, upon my return, one of the first things I did was devise a plan to organize. In the end, I had piles of stuff to donate and many helpful yards of new storage space! I feel fantastic now! I actually do feel like my mind is clearer.

So, today, on one of my last days to relax before returning to work, I am going to do something I haven’t done in a while. I am going to get a book from the library and read it! And then, I am going to stitch up this lovely violet bookmark project that Pam Kellogg designed so I can mark my progress each day as I read a new chapter!

I hope you have a happy and healthy new year, one that is filled with enough time to indulge in the things you really want to accomplish!

Enjoy,

Dennise

Did you know?

Violet is the diminutive form of the Latin Viola, the Latin form of the Greek name Ione. There is a legend that when Jupiter changed his beloved Ione into a white heifer for fear of Juno's jealousy, he caused these modest flowers to spring forth from the earth to be fitting food for her, and he gave them her name.
