 A Bright Shiny New Year
A new year! I feel more excited about this one than ever before. I have great plans to make this one extra productive, efficient, and healthy. My spouse and I took a week out of work this last week of 2006 with the goal of finishing off the year on a great note. We wanted to prepare for the New Year by getting organized so that we could enter it in the most simple of ways possible. Simplify. Simplify. Simplify. The great words of Henry David Thoreau were ringing true in our hearts as we tossed out much of the old and made way for the new. With my head buried deep within the recesses of my kitchen cupboards, I scrubbed with more determination recycled Tupperware without matching lids, and cleared the clutter that so hungrily ate away at our productivity and emotional well-being in 2006. It is now December 31 as I am writing this and I am sitting in my living room staring at a home full of hope for a prosperous new year.
As I reflect back on 2006, I realized how much time I wasted sifting through drawers in search for a pen or a thumbtack or a never expired coupon. As I will undoubtedly still have to correct my husband for putting his shoes on the stairs or leaving his pile of paperwork from the office on the dining room table, I fully embrace my resolution to find happiness, tranquility and simplicity in the dawn if each new day in 2007.
The New Year. What a great big hopeful time to make our lives what we truly want them to be. Starting fresh gives rise to great opportunity. May your New Year be filled with as much hope and promise as possible! Happy New Year!
