- Cut two cardboard stiffeners 1/8-inch smaller than the pattern for the worked linen.
- Cut two pieces of batting to the size of these stiffening cardboards.
- Cut the two worked linen pieces of batting to the size of these stiffening cardboards.
- Cut the two worked linen pieces allowing a 3/4-inch seam allowance beyond the pattern perimeter. The front and back linen pieces are lined in a similar colored cotton.
- Cut two pieces of lining fabric to match the linen pieces and sew each lining piece to the wrong side of a linen piece 1/4-inch from the edge.
- Position and stretch the front and back needleworked linen over the batting covered cardboards gluing each to the back side of its stiffener. Join the stretched front and back of the pocketwatch wrong sides together by hand, stitching along the perimeter. Suggestions: To give an elegant finished edge to the pocket watch, slip-stitch a gold metallic twisted cord along the outer edge with a like-colored gold metallic Cord. You may also use a length of 1/2-inch organdy ribbon in gold, red, green or white which is doubled and tied with a bow near its ends.
- Securely tack the knot of the bow to the top of the ornament. The resulting loop will serve as a hanger.
