Yummy Recipes!

From the recipe book of Virgina Furr!

PINEAPPLE TORTE

6 egg whites
2 cups sugar
1 tsp.vinegar + 1 tsp. lemon juice (OR 1 T. vinegar)
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 pint whipping cream
1 small can crushed pineapple

Beat egg whites in electric mixer for 5 minutes.
Add sugar by the tablespoon very slowly.
Then add vinegar-lemon juice (or vinegar), vanilla and salt.
Beat 5 minutes.
Place in 2 - 9" greased round cake pans.
Bake 45 minutes in a very slow 275 degree oven.
Take from pans immediately.
Whip 1 pint cream.
Drain can crushed pineapple and add some whipped cream and spread on 1 layer.
Top with other layer. Ice the stack with whipped cream.

REFRIGERATE.

MAKE 2 DAYS BEFORE SERVING. (Very important)

THREE PACKET POT ROAST

One beef pot roast, any size
One packet (dry) gravy mix, beef or brown - pork for a pork roast, turkey for a turkey breast, etc.
One packet (dry) Italian dressing mix
One packet (dry) Ranch dressing mix
One cup water

Place roast in slow cooker (no need to brown it, though you can); sprinkle three dry packets over, pour water over all. Cook on low all day, at least 5 or 6 hours. Thicken gravy as desired. Unbelievably good!
