Bookmarks for Literacy

Last year, needlework designer and children's book author Jen Funk Weber combined her passions and created a Stitching for Literacy bookmark design campaign. In its first year, 429 hand-stitched bookmarks were collected and donated to schools, libraries and literacy programs.

The "Needle and ThREAD: Stitching for Literacy" campaign continues in 2008. If you have extra fabric, extra thread, or even just a few extra minutes this month, consider organizing your stitching friends or work with your local needlework shop to create a few bookmarks for the program. You can find details here: www.jenfunkweber.com.om.

Bookmarks can be a fun project to stitch between your larger projects.

This month we feature a sweet little design to make a gift for a baby's first keepsake bookmark. The Tokens & Trifles perforated paper shape makes finishing so easy!
