Materials:
- Wooden Bat mask (Spooky Hollowby from Jo-Anns)
- Black acrylic craft paint (any brand)
- 8x10 sheet of Treasure Tape
- Vintage Finds (cabochons, sequins, and flat-backed beads), purple assortment
- Kreinik Finishing Touches threads-on-cards, #12 Braid Purple
- Kreinik Facets in 002 Gold
- Diamond Beadlets
- Tools: paintbrush, scissors, shallow pan or tray
Instructions:
- First, paint your entire mask black. Allow it to dry completely.
- Next, cover the entire front of your mask with Treasure Tape. (You can apply a full sheet to the mask and cut off the excess, or use small scrap pieces side by side to cover it.) Press the tape with your fingers to smooth out any air pockets.
- Begin peeling back the red liner from your tape. You are now ready to embellish. Outline the edges of your mask and eye holes with Gold facets. Add any design elements you wish with the facets as well.
- Add your vintage finds- place the cabochons across your mask and press them firmly into the tape. Leave some space between them for your thread.
- Begin embellishing with your purple braids. Loop, zigzag, and outline with the threads to add texture and design to your mask.
- When finished embellishing, place your mask in a shallow tray. Pour Diamond Beadlets over the taped areas of your design and swirl with your fingers to cover fully. Tap to remove excess beadlets.
