Halloween Candy Jar

Make use of those little bits of scrap that you may have in your stash with this great quick project! Use as a gift or party favor for those Halloween themed celebrations!

Materials:

  • 1 jar, any size, with lid
  • Halloween paper scraps (we use Mandarin Orange Quills by Fibermark, Trick or Treat by Provo Craft, Gold Stars by Die Cuts with a View
  • Black beaded rings by Trinkets & Treasures
  • Kreinik Metallic Thread, 150V Vintage Amber 1/8" Ribbon
  • 4”x6” Treasure Tape sheets
  • 1/4" Treasure Trim
  • Diamond Beadlets
  • Scissors
  • Drawing compass

Instructions:

  1. Measure the top of your lid.  This is your design size. Using a compass, draw a circle that same size on the white backer of your tape. Cut out the circle, peel back the white liner, and adhere to the back of your Mandarin paper.  Cut out the taped circle. Cut one strip of Trick or Treat paper and two strips of gold star paper.  Center them on top of your Mandarin circle and glue them in place.  Trim them to your circle's edge.
  2. Using your 1/4" Treasure Trim, outline the edges between your strips. Add some lines of tape in between the outlines.  Then outline the edge of your design (allow the tape to fold slightly as you go around the circle.)
  3. Peel back the red liner on your outline stripes, and cover them with Vintage Amber ribbon. Peel back the liner on your edge tape, and outline the circle with ribbon. Peel back the liner on the remaining stripes and center your rings on the design.
  4. Place your design in a shallow tray or ziplock bag and cover with Diamond Beadlets.  Swirl with your fingers to cover fully and tap to remove excess Beadlets.  Peel the red liner off the back of your design and center it on your jar lid.  Fill with candies or fake spiders!
