Materials needed:
- 6" x 6" piece of 28-count natural linen
- Kreinik Silk Mori and Silk Serica as listed in color key
- #24 Tapestry needle
- Piece of plastic canvas or cardboard
Instructions & Color Key
See stitching tips for hints on working with silk threads. Open a skein of Silk Mori by removing the paper wrapper and using your needle to loosen the slip knot holding the ends together. Pull out one ply at a time, recombining two strands for cross stitches or three strands for French Knots.
Stitch in this order, following the color key and the main graph:
- Cross stitched legs
- Satin stitched face
- Backstitch legs & face
- French Knot body
- Straight stitched grass
- Cross stitched fence
Stitching Tips
- Moisturize hands with a non-greasy hand cream to prevent silk from snagging on rough spots.
- Use 15- to 18-inch lengths for greater control
- Let your needle dangle after every few stitches to let the thread relax (this will avoid knotting).
- For more stitching tips, visit the Silk Mori and Silk Serica pages on Kreinik?s web site, www.kreinik.com.
