Instructions:
-
Cut or punch 5
one-inch squares from your snowflake paper. Cut a large rectangle
for the bottom of your page. Cut one square from your dark blue
cardstock. Cut rectangles from your other papers.
-
To make your
journaling squares, first decorate your slide mounts. Starting in
one corner, zig-zag around the edge of your mount with the Blue
Bell Iron-On thread. Color in the space outside the thread border
with your blue marker. Repeat with your second mount. To make your
text squares, you can either hand-write them or print them on your
computer. We printed these on a computer in the Harrington font
then cut them fit in the slide mounts. Otherwise, you can simply
cut paper to fit and then write your captions. Once your captions
are done, attach the slide mount frames to them. You are now ready
to assemble your page.
-
Layer your
paper squares on your page. Mount your photograph. Then mount your
journal squares. To add your snowflake brad, poke a hole with an
awl or needle through your dark blue square and insert the brad.
Attach your square to your page.
-
Once all your
paper components are attached, you are ready to add your charms.
It helps to lay out your letters on the page first, so that you
have an idea of placement. Unwind a long length of the Royal Blue
Iron-On. String your eyelet letters onto the thread in order
beginning with the first letter of your word (for example, the “s”
in snowflake) and push them away from the end. Beginning on the
left side of your page, make loops with the thread across the
first third of your page. Then, move your first letter into place
and continue to iron. Move the second letter into place, and so
on. (Be careful not to touch your letters if the iron is touching
them, as they can become very hot very quickly.) Once you have
finished with your letters, finish by looping your thread across
the remaining space. Lastly, make a second row of loops across
the snowflake squares at the top of your page. Trim your thread
ends. Your page is complete!
