Embellished Flower Quilt Block
Designed by: Treasure It®
Skill Level: Intermediate
Your child can make this no-sew quilt block and frame it, or attach to a quilted background for a cheerful wall hanging. Use your child’s drawing, printed onto fabric, or create your own design on a piece of fabric. Then add beads, tape, yarn, ribbon, and thread for embellishments. |
Materials needed:
- Two 8” x 10” sheets of Treasure Tape
- Diamond Beadlets
- Kreinik #12 Braid in 024 Fuchsia, 029 Aquamarine (or colors to match your design)
- Kreinik 1/8" Ribbon in 018 Navy (or color to match your design)
- Purple satin ¼” ribbon
- Flower petals
- Treasure Tape dots
- Buttons or flat-backed cabochons for flower centers
- Design printed on fabric sheet (8 1/2" x 11")
Instructions:
-
Remove the white backing from an 8x10 sheet of Treasure Tape. Lay the fabric piece on the sticky tape, with the printed side facing the tape. Smooth out any bubbles.
-
Turn your fabric piece over and remove the red liner exposing the top sticky area.
-
Lay the purple ribbon all around the edge of the fabric piece, pressing into the tape to adhere.
-
Use the #12 Braid and 1/8" Ribbon to outline the flower and create a flower center, as desired.
-
Lay the flower petals randomly onto your fabric, pressing into the tape to adhere. Lay one Treasure Tape dot in the center of each flower, remove the red liner to expose the sticky area, and lay a button in the center of each one.
-
When thread decorating is complete, lay your design in a shallow pan or tray and cover all remaining sticky areas with Diamond Beadlets.
