The other day I visited with an old friend and she said to me, “I am so bored with my life. I get up and do the same thing day in and day out and nothing ever changes. I feel as though I am standing still and not getting what I want out of life.”
I asked her, “What do you want out of life?” My friend went on to tell me her dream of living in a small town where she could own a small gift shop. Her cat, Meows, could hang out with her all day and amuse the tourists who would come in and browse her quilts and crafts. When I asked her why she thought it impossible for her to live this life she said, “It’s just a fanciful dream.”
As my mother always told me, having dreams is so important to our well-being. But having them is not enough. For them to really give lift to our lives they need to be acted upon. Dreams are only as achievable as we imagine them to be. Sometimes, taking one small daily action can be the catalyst to turning our dreams into a reality. Small actions can add up to big results over time. We can dream of reaching the pot of gold across the yard, but we’ll never get there if we don’t take that first step towards it.
Whatever your dreams are, pursue them one fanciful action at a time! As for my friend, she's ready to take that first step with this month's quilting project!
Enjoy!
