Bloom Card

If you're looking to really make someone feel extra special, then here is the perfect card to do that! What says 'I love you', 'I think you're great', or 'I care about you' better than a homemade card? Pull up a seat, gather your supplies and get ready to have some creative fun!

 
 

Materials needed:

  • Blank white card (3.5" x 5")
  • Yellow fabric scrap
  • Blue print fabric scraps
  • Kreinik #12 Braid: 3506 Blue Samba, 9400 Baby Blue, 9100 Sunlight
  • Daisy stamp, Anita's by Sugarloaf Inc.
  • Stamp pad
  • Blue pen
  • 4" x 6" Treasure Tape sheet
  • Diamond Beadlets
  • Tools: scissors, glue stick, pencil, shallow pan or tray
Instructions:
  1. Peel back the white liner on half of your Treasure Tape sheet. 
  2. Stamp your daisy design directly onto your tape. (For a crisper image, blot stamp once before stamping on tape.) Replace the white liner and cut out your stamped image, leaving about 1/8" around the outside. 
  3. Peel off the white liner again and place your tape on the front of your yellow fabric.  Smooth out any air pockets with your fingers. 
  4. Trim the fabric to the size of your tape, leaving a 1/4" border around the outside, and set aside.
  5. Cut a second piece of Treasure Tape slightly larger than your yellow fabric. Peel back the white liner. Begin placing small strips of your blue fabric around the outside edges of the tape so that they overlap the edges slightly.  Once your border is complete, place your yellow fabric piece in the center and press to remove any air bubbles.
  6. Peel back the red liner on the back of your blue border and center the design at the top of your card.
  7. Next, peel back the red liner over your daisy design.  Begin embellishing with your threads, following the outline of the stamp as a guide. Use Blue Samba braid to outline the border and the flower, add Sunshine braid in the center and around the outside of the border, and finish with Baby Blue braid inside the petals and leaves.  When finished, use a discarded piece of red liner to press all the threads firmly into your tape. (The liner will protect your fingers)
  8. Place your card in a shallow tray and pour Diamond Beadlets over the exposed tape areas. Swirl with your fingers to cover fully and tap to remove excess beadlets.
  9. Write the word "Bloom" at the bottom of your card in blue ink.
