Materials needed:

  • 9 7/8” x 8” white bag with handles
  • Cardstocks: 2” x 5” white, 2” x 6” brown, 2” square light blue, 1 ½” square lemon yellow
  • 4” x 5 ½” ‘tie dye look’ printed paper
  • Treasure Tape™ (1-inch roll)
  • Iron-on #16 Braid 6130 Red
  • Iron-on 1/8” Ribbon 6400 Blue Bell, 6000 White
  • Kreinik Teflon Press Cloth
  • Other supplies: pencil, tracing paper, transfer paper or light board, pencil, ruler, baking parchment, eraser, scissors, iron or mini iron, ironing surface, paper glue

Instructions:

Turn your iron onto the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.

  1. Trace template designs onto tracing paper with pencil. Transfer designs lightly onto cardstocks: bottom on white, frosting on brown, candles on light blue, flames on lemon yellow.
  2. Place parchment paper on ironing surface with cardstocks on top (white, light blue, and lemon yellow). With press cloth over threads, iron threads over transferred designs a small portion at a time. Use white ribbon on bottoms, light blue ribbon on candles, red braid on flames.
  3. Iron a light blue ribbon border around card front. Measure and mark a 6 ½” x 5” rectangle on bag front. Iron light blue ribbon on marked rectangle.
  4. Ion small pieces of light ribbon ‘confetti’ on bag front. (Tip: ironing ribbon for a few seconds before cutting into confetti makes it less likely to split apart).
  5. Apply double-stick Treasure Tape to backs of dye paper. Adhere tie dye paper to bag. Glue cupcake bottoms on tie dye paper. Glue frostings on bottoms. Glue candles on frostings and flames above candles. Let glue dry.
