Symbolically speaking, friendships are a lot like birthday cakes. They make us feel special. Their eternal flame of hope rises up to meet our wishes. They are filled with sweetness. They surprise us by what’s on the inside. And they comfort us through the years.

Some friends show up in our lives right when we need them most. Some stand idle by the wayside and watch us make our way through life always ready to jump in and set us back on the right track. And then there are those that never leave our side and we count on daily for their guidance and support. Whether it be to help us decide what to wear, what to eat, or what to say, they are the true icing on the cake for those times when life needs a dash or a whole bunch of spice.

For all those times they made us feel at our best with their laughter, wisdom and freedom, may we be blessed with the ability to honor them and let them know how much we cherish them in our lives.
