We love Sharon G’s Calla Lily canvas, MB09. It’s a perfect project for silk and metallic threads; Sharon’s painted the background stripes to match Kreinik’s Vintage Gold, and Silk Serica will give the petals such a realistic, well, silky look. Ask for this canvas at your local needlepoint shop. It’s small and quick to stitch.

Look through your stitch books and choose stitches that will bring interest to, but not complicate this small piece. Good Kreinik thread choices for this 18-count canvas are:

Kreinik Tapestry (#12) Braid in 002V Vintage Gold and 100 White for the background
Kreinik Silk Serica in 8000 Soft White for the flower, with 6112 Light Wisteria for the pink shading, and 8073 Light Charcoal for the gray areas. Choose three shades of yellow for flower center: 2026 Dark Buttercup, 2024 Medium Buttercup, and 7082 Lightest Straw
For the leaf, try Kreinik Silk Mori in the Victorian Green Shades: 4167 Very Dark Victorian Green, 4166 Dark Victorian Green, 4164 Medium Victorian Green, and 4163 Light Victorian Green
