Stitch this easy ornament on perforated paper and decorate your tree with hand-stitched mementos this year.

Materials Needed:

• Britannia or Ivy Circle Tokens & Trifles
• 20-count perforated paper sewing card with #28 Tapestry needle
• Kreinik Silk Mori 2014, 5053, 4026
• Kreinik Very Fine #4 Braid 003, 032
• Kreinik 1/16" Ribbon 003

Instructions:

Use a #28 needle when working with Tokens and Trifles? sewing cards. Cross stitch using one strand of thread, following the color key. This design is stitched over one square on the sewing card so each square on the chart equals one square on the card.

Color Key:

Silk Mori 2014 Md Gold, one strand in cross stitch Kreinik #4 Braid 003 Red, one strand in cross stitch Silk Mori 5053 Lt Slate Blue, one strand in cross stitch Silk Mori 4036 Dk Kelly Green, one strand in backstitch

When above stitching is complete:

1. Stitch half-cross stitches randomly in the blue stitched area and background around the present using Very Fine #4 Braid 032.
2. Make random long stitches (or backstitches) using one strand 4033 Light Kelly Green over the Dark Kelly Green stitches to make the tree branches look fuller and more dimensional.
3. Use 1/16" Ribbon in 003 Red to make a bow at the top of the package. Use another length of red ribbon for an ornament hanger.

Finishing instructions:

Using an archival-safe glue or tape, attach backer card to the back of your needlework. OR: you can use extra strands of Mori to stitch in the decorative border, attaching the two cards.
