Soccer Ball

Designed by: Pam Kellogg
Design size: 48w x 47h
Skill level: Beginner

Adults and kids all over the world love playing soccer. Stitch this little cutie for a special soccer player in your life. The metallic thread makes it stand out.

Materials needed:

  • 16-count white Aida
  • Black embroidery floss
  • Kreinik Very Fine #4 Braid 005, 032, 3231, 008

Instructions:

Cross stitch this fun little designed centered on your fabric. Use two strands of cotton floss or one strand of Braid following the color key below. Use one strand of Braid for French Knot eyes, and one strand of Braid or floss for backstitch areas.

How to open a spool of Very Fine #4 Braid:

This thread comes on a snap-spool mechanism. Both sides of the spool open; look for the side where the thread end is located. Insert your thumbnail under the cap, and rotate the spool while gently lifting the cap to release the thread (the cap should not pop off). Snap the lid shut to secure the unused portion.

Other stitching tips:

If you are stitching on fabric, use a needle large enough to 'open' the hole in the fabric sufficiently and allow the thread to go through more easily.

The way a needle is twisted during stitching, combined with the twist of the thread, can cause any thread to twist on itself. Stitch slowly for greater control, and let your needle hang frequently to let the thread untwist.

Stitch using the 'stab' method rather than the 'hand sewing' method to reduce tangling, working your stitches in two movements: up vertically then down vertically through the fabric.
