Have you seen the fun artwork submitted to The Colbert Report (on Comedy Central Television) in spring 2008, by children in Pennsylvania? With drawings of Hilary Clinton, Barrack Obama, and John McCain, kids are expressing their creativity, ideas, and feelings—and creating some pretty compelling artwork.
Here's an idea for transforming children's artwork into FIBER art. Only 3 ingredients are needed: Treasure Tape, Kreinik metallic threads and Diamond Beadlets. Adults or children can do this technique and have fun with it too.
If desired, make color copies of the artwork, save the original, and work with a copy.
Then all you do is cut out a piece of Treasure Tape to match the size of the artwork. Then you peel back the release paper and adhere the tape to the top of the artwork. Peel back the protective liner and add embellishments like Kreinik metallic threads, filling in areas with matching or complementing colors, pressing the thread down into the tape as you go. Use metallic braids, ribbons and cords— you can add personal embellishments too, like buttons, lace, etc. Then pour Diamond Beadlets® over the exposed tape to give the artwork that magical 3D effect. The clear beadlets let the colors of the design show through. Kids love to see their artwork enhanced in this way.
Use this idea for decorating children's artwork:—at home —at school— at church — at parties
If desired, submit them to newspapers, libraries, and local tv stations who may be willing to show off children's artwork.
